Jaipur, popularly known as “Pink City, the capital of Rajasthan State, India, was founded in 1727 AD, by Sawai Jaisingh II, a great ruler, renowned mathematician and astrologer. It is the first planned city of India, where the roads were divided into rectangular blocks and surrounded by a wall with huge gates guarding it. The market places were also named after the products, which had to be sold or made.

Jaipur was adorned with full pink to welcome Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria and thus earned the name “PINK CITY”. Also, it is said to be the origin of excellent handicrafts, such as gold jewelry either, enameled or inlaid with precious stones, blue pottery, carving on wood, stone & ivory, block print, tie & dye textiles, handmade paper, miniature painting etc.
Being located in a desert area, Jaipur is dry and hot. During winters, one can enjoy the spectacular views of the city. It is a common tradition to offer rich food with lots of butter and ghee, which is best diet to be eaten in the winter season. And so, Jaipur can be enjoyed to its best between the months of October to March. Jaipur is well connected to almost all of the major cities of India, by air, road and rail.
