Famous Vidyadhar Gardens of Jaipur

Vidyadhar Garden is a beautifully built garden, located at a distance of about 8 km in the east of Jaipur, on Jaipur-Agra road. The idea of building this garden was derived from the Mughal's by the rulers of Jaipur. The pink city of Jaipur is surrounded by desert land, which propelled the rulers to build this garden to bring some respite and a sense of relief from the scorching heat. |
This garden was used as a vineyard by its erstwhile rulers but later on it was renovated and opened for public viewing.
Vidyadhar Gardens have the distinction of being the only garden in Jaipur which is planned in accordance with Shilpa Shastra, the ancient Indian line of architecture. Vidyadhar Garden is named after Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, as an acknowledgement for his service in designing and planning the city of Jaipur. The garden is divided into various sections with terraces, fountains, pools, ample greenery and various interesting attractions.
The setting of this garden is done in between two low lying hills which add to the natural beauty of the countryside. The landscape of the garden consists of shady trees, flowerbeds and well-organized fountains in between them. The beauty of this garden is enhanced in the evening when it is illuminated with multi-colored lights. Vidyadhar Garden has so much to offer for its visitors that it's a worthy place to visit if you're on a tour to Jaipur.
